No 1 today 5 years ago: Taio Cruz holds off top names with first chart-topper

Closed

Taio Cruz, 5 years ago, spent the 2nd of three weeks at the No 1 spot with Break Your Heart, but French DJ David Guetta as well as TWO Jay Z tunes were too hot on his heels. Like any pop star would tell, once you hold that number one single, you would really not let it go.

Therefore, for singer/rapper Taio Cruz, relishing his very first ever No 1 with Break Your Heart, this week in the year 2009 was going to be tougher than a lot.

No sooner had Taio knocked Pixie Lott’s 2nd No 1 Boys And Girls off the summit, than he had to watch his back at who was sliding up behind – they were quite big players. Sexy Chick, the former No 1, by superstar French DJ David Guetta as well as US R&B star Akon, was denying to go anywhere, holding their position firmly lodged at No 2 in Taio Cruz’s’s first week at No 1.

This was not new for a well known former chart-topper to get back their crown – mainly in digital age – and Taio Cruz’s must have been worried his stay at Official Singles Chart No 1 Hotel was going to quite a little short one. To make things worse, heightened popularity of rapper Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ Empire State Of Mind appeared all set to send the track careering all the way from 15th spot to the summit. At last, Taio Cruz did not have many things to worry about.

Loving X Factor’s Lola Saunders

Closed

Zoe Birkett, the ex Pop Idol finalist, told that she is really loving Lola Saunders on the X Factor this year – but would not want to change places with her. The Consett singer, who reached the to the final 5 of the very first series of Pop Idol in the year 2002 when she was just a teenager, told that she could not be happier that she has finished her television talent journey when she did.

According to reports, recently she stated that she had really great time and it was really a dream come true for her. But X Factor is more the judges and the pantomime. She further added that it would be a real nightmare – you get said what you sing and she does not like that. She would have arguments all the time.

When she took part in the Pop Idol, she used to sing as per her choice. And if she did not do well, it was on her shoulders.

Meanwhile, the 29 year old would share the lead role in Bodyguard Musical with Alexandra Burke, the former X Factor winner, when it hits Newcastle Theatre Royal in 2015’s April. A leading website reported that she was happy to see East Boldon’s favorite daughter Lola get go through to the live shows as a wildcard. She is seeing X Factor for the very first time and she is really relishing it.
